We are off to a good start.
Kids were VERY excited to go back to school on Jan. 4th. That's not normal is it? Excited to go back to school to see their friends. That is normal, right? Yup, I think that was the only reason they were ready to go back to school. Two weeks is a long time to be away from their friends.
Kevin and I, on the other hand, were groaning and grunting on the 4th when we had to get up and get ready for work. We didn't share the same enthusiasm as the kids did. I wish we did. It was super hard to get up early. I think I woke up to Kierra playing Jingle Bells on her recorder. I must add that it is so nice to not have to worry about getting the kids up in the morning. They are up before us and sometimes have to wake us up. I know....that is so sad. Something I hope to change really soon so that I can prepare a nice breakfast for them before school. Anyways, what was I saying? Oh yea, we (Kevin and I) were used to sleeping in till 10am every morning and staying up super late. Having a week and a half off spoiled us.
We bought a second hand car. We bought it from a friend for a really good deal. It was a blessing. Thank you, Lord. We really needed a second vehicle. It will save us from a lot of arguements on who gets the car and when. No more waiting around for the other in the morning or after work wondering how long before they are ready or when will he get here. It is lovely. Plus, the van needs some work done on it. It's hard to turn the van in when that is your only transportation and you need it to get around in. You know?
I am very proud of myself. This week I went to the YMCA 4 days this week. That is huge for me. I am making it a priority to take care of myself this year. Seriously. I took my first aerobic kickboxing class on Monday and that was super fun. It is challenging but easy to follow. I really like it. The instructor makes it fun with up beat music and changing it up. I'm gonna stick to that two days a week and then Zumba 2 days a week too. It's an hour each day so that is not bad.
I've started menu planning for dinner this week. I am proud to say we actually stuck to it and did not go out once for dinner. This is another thing I/we need to take serious. It will save on money and get us eating healthier. We tried two new recipes that we all really liked. One was super stuffed potatoes. This was super easy to make and very good. It had the kids asking for more. The other one wasn't new it was just a different recipe. It was lasagna. The recipe I used for that was Pioneer Woman's lasagna. It was DELICIOUS!!! Kevin said that was the best lasagna he ever had. Woohoo! I now know how to make my own spaghetti sauce. No more sauce in the jars for me. :-)
Well, that about sums up our first week in the new year.
