To laugh often and much,
To win the respect of intelligent people
And the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics and
Endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty,
To find the best in others;
To leave the world a bit better, whether
By a healthy child, a garden patch,
Or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed easier
Because you lived.
That is to have succeeded.
By: Ralph Waldo Emerson
I was cleaning out my wallet and found this poem/saying. Not sure what to call it but....anyway.... This poem/saying was left for me inside a very nice card that was given to me by a very sweet lady that was doing some temporary work back in Oct. for me for our Annual Meeting. I thought it was very sweet of her. I really like this and wanted to share.
