The Great Outdoors

A family friend of ours invited us to go camping with them this year. This was our first family camping trip. We stayed at Treman State Park in Ithaca, NY. It was the simple life for 3 days. No TV, no internet, no game systems. It was great. We grilled burgers and hotdogs on the campfire, roasted marshmellows for smores, we even had pancakes, eggs, bacon, and burritos, laughed and told stories around the fire, walked down the street to use the bathroom and the shower, slept in tents, fought with the bugs, and froze our butts off at night. It got down to 45 degrees at night. Brrrrrrr. We were not prepared (I didn't pack enough blankets and Kevin and Terrell didn't pack any sweaters or pants). Lesson learned there......always pack sweaters and pants even in the summer. During the day we spent our time around the town hiking to see the waterfalls, going to 2 of the Finger Lakes near our campsite, went to a winery, and just relaxed.

Since I have alot of pictures, I'll split this into 2 posts....one of us on the campsite and the other of the different places we saw around NY. Our campsite.

The pool at the campsite. We didn't get in - the water was freezing!!!
