Blizzard of 09

Friday night it started to snow.  It did not stop until Saturday night about 10 pm.  We got about 20" of snow.  It was absolutely beautiful!  The blanket of white snow covering everything.  Glistening.Sparkling.Fluffy.Soft.

We have not had this kind of snow in years.  I think the last time we got this much was around 2000 or 2001, even then I don't think it was this much but it was more than we have been getting the past few years - 6" the most.

The kids enjoyed playing in the snow during the day.  After being outside for a while they each were starting to turn into a snowman with the carrot nose and all. So I allowed them back in the house.  They had had enough of being outside.

In the evening we were all feeling a bit adventurous so all 9 of us (our family, Michael, a friend of ours and her son) walked to grocery store down the street to get some stuff for dinner and to snack on.  That was fun and cold.

The blizzard of 09 caused the schools to start their winter vacation 3 days early and even had the Federal Gov't close on Monday.  That is RARE for the Federal Gov't to close.  Of course the kids and I were jumping for joy when we heard the news!
